A rainy day calls for sleeping in, Benny Goodman, snuggles with Whoof, and some good old fashion eggs in a basket. What tastes better than bread fried in butter? The first time I ever spotted this dish was in the most unexpected place: the movie V for Vendetta. Have you ever seen it? After figuring out that the recipe goes by a million and one names, Mommalah and I prepared to put our two brains to work, only to find out it is just about the easiest thing in the world to make! Simple, quick, AND delicious? How refreshing! The pan there is looking a little crusty...guess it is just well loved? :) It looks a bit like a yummy cyclop eye, no?

What the beans happened to blogger?? I feel like such an old fogie trying to learn how to use all these new fangled web designs.

This morning I was feeling rather cheerful when getting dressed, although I must admit this is not what I initially wore out of the house. Spring weather can be so fickle! Rainclouds and drizzle one minute, sunshine the next. In any case, I bought this at Forever 21 two weeks ago and have been dying to wear it on a night out with some red lips. There are so many bright and happy colors in the shops right now, it is absolutely delightful! This little number has nifty pockets and a fun cherry design printed all over. The belt came with the dress and even though it is a little cheapie, I can't complain because belts are probably my LEAST favorite thing to buy. So hey ho! :) The glitter DIY promised has hit a few speed bumps along the way, but I anticipate posting it by the week's end.

kanye workout plan?

Sorry for the dilatory post! Work has been super hectic on both fronts and with the recent sunshine, Whoof and I have been sunning our perfectly rounded bellies at the beach. It just might be time to begin a gym regime. My knee caps have happily been hidden away for most of the winter but now that they are out and about, I've been a little red in the face. Anyone have any suggestions on how to stay disciplined with the treadmill? This yummy meal from dinner out last week sure didn't help!

Another D.I.Y coming up in the next day or two! Anticipate LOTS of glitter!

It is really flip flipping hot today! Whoof is taking a nice snooze, Mommalah is doing a little drawing, and I'm halfway out the door to the beach!

Quick simple outfit today. The floral top was $10 at a second hand store I stumbled into last week and has really neat button detailing down the back. It scoops a little lower than I'd normally like but it is really nice and airy plus the color scheme was too cool to pass up! This is one of the first tops I've bought that has an interesting collar too. The shorts are just a pair I found at H&M back in December. So happy there was plenty of sunshine to wear something like this today!

Each year, the spring catches me by surprise and it seems as if all the flowers and trees bloom overnight! It is such a wonderful treat to wake up that first morning and see all the colors of the rainbow right outside your window. Every spring feels like the first spring and you can't help but have a big smile on your face and want to talk long strolls about town.

In celebration of the hot sun, cold wind, chirping birds, and blossoming buds, Whoof and I decided to partake in the age old spring tradition of garland making! Drawing some inspiration from Mommalah's garden, here is what we came up with:

The project was super easy peasy and the flowers were only $3.99. We bought a few other bunches in different colors and can't wait to get started on making more! Read on if you're interested in seeing how we did ours.

1. Blue and gold pansy. 2. Whoof showing you everything you'll need for this project: silk flowers from any old craft store will do, plastic headband (although felt would have worked much better!), hot glue gun, and scissors. 3. To start, snip off all the flower blossoms and a couple of leaves. 4. Hot glue gun the blossoms onto the leaves using the central vein as a guide. Press down gently. 5. Glue the leaves onto the headband one at a time. I found that after initially gluing them together, I had to go back and while pressing them together, inject more glue in any gaps so it wouldn't break off later. 6. We did ours in three sections; the 2 sides and then the top center portion.

Whoof ready to nosh a burrito of sorts. Can't start the day without some cinnamon hazel blend! Two sugars please!

Just a quick one today. I got the idea from Whoof while she was burying her bone in one of the closet compartments after breakfast. Ten minutes into pawing and sniffing she dug up this broken felt hanger and although slightly annoyed at the bone-burying- disturbance, thought we should try putting it to good use at least once before throwing it away. So I accepted the challenge! And here is the end result:

A little make-up windchime-esque, no? I've read a few places that after cleaning your makeup brushes, it is better to let them sit downright so that any remaining moisture drips down instead of into your brush handle where it might fester and create mold and scary bacteria. Yikes. Not toooo sure if this is anything scientific, but one of my brushes was starting to smell a little funky so we jerry rigged this little doodad and let them warm in the sun. A couple hours later we were left with some squeaky clean brushes that are all ready for a week's worth of correcting! :)
